Pedro Cabeleira’s ‘Night Passengers’ Boarded by Pluto Film Ahead of Cannes Premiere (EXCLUSIVE)

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined forces with Pluto Film as they take on the role of sales agent for Pedro Cabeleira’s “Entroncamento” (Night Passengers). This captivating film will make its debut in the sidebar ACID at Cannes. Can’t wait to see it light up the silver screen!

In the gritty heart of Entroncamento, Portugal, I found myself immersed in a world where brutality, misfortune, avarice, and loyalty hold sway over the pavements. Arriving here with aspirations to rebuild my life, Laura instead succumbs to the siren call of easy cash and criminality, dragging her back into the turbulent waters of her past. For each soul that crosses paths in this junction, every day brings a choice: to remain shackled by one’s past or to strive for transformation into something new.

The director remarked: ” ‘Entroncamento’ depicts a young person trapped by the tedium of a tiny town. This small world is a bustling hive of tension, violence, and street rules. It’s also a narrative of an inner Portugal, where those living on society’s fringes become ensnared in the long, desolate hours of deserted streets, with no other options available.”

Or, more colloquially:

The director said: ” ‘Entroncamento’ shows us a young person stuck in the dullness of a small town. It’s a place teeming with stress, fights, and neighborhood rules. It’s also the story of a hidden Portugal, where people on society’s edges get caught up in the lonely nights of empty streets, with nowhere else to go.

Daniela Cölle, head of Pluto Film, stated: “This film offers exactly what viewers are yearning for at the moment – a fearless female lead who not only endures in a male-dominated world, but completely transforms its dynamics. With its unique mix of crime, thriller, and social drama, this is a fresh take on gangster narratives. We are drawn to such exhilarating, thought-provoking films, which is why ‘Entroncamento’ aligns perfectly with our selection.

The movie was penned by Diogo Figueira and Cabeleira. The acting ensemble features Ana Vilaça, Cleo Diára, Rafael Morais, Tiago Costa, Sérgio Coragem, André Simões, and Henrique Barbosa.
