PEAK’s developers secretly enter active games, manipulating a chatty plush toy character, and playfully teasing gamers during their live streams.
Back in June 2025, I was utterly amazed as PEAK took the gaming world by storm! In just under a month, it sold an unbelievable 5 million copies. It was like watching a rocket launch, but instead of soaring into the sky, this game was making its mark on every screen it touched.
On Steam, it reached an astounding 102,799 concurrent players! It seemed like everyone I knew was playing it, and before we knew it, PEAK had become a viral sensation practically overnight. Truly, it was a game-changer in the world of gaming!
In just one month, the indie stars Aggro Crab and Landfall collaboratively constructed it during a game development competition known as a game jam. To escape from exhausting projects, they decided to work on something compact, lively, and entertaining instead. The outcome is a wildly chaotic cooperative climbing game with an abundance of meme possibilities and unexpected appearances by the developers themselves.
Post-launch, the team didn’t vanish. Instead, they got weirder.
PEAK devs are possessing Bingbong to troll players
Now, they’re taking control of Bingbong, the chatty plush toy sidekick in Twitch streamers’ games. But Bingbong is more than just a talkative toy; he has real conversations with live voice responses.
Some streamers thought Bingbong was pre-recorded. Until he started answering questions.
During their adventure, others abandoned him, leaving behind a melancholic whisper of “Please don’t go…” That prompted one participant to exclaim, “It seems like a genuine voice in our conversation!” While another was taken aback, muttering, “It appears Bingbong has a speaker!
In one particular context, the developer responsible for Bingbong pleaded not to be left alone, cried out “I’m immersed!” and also expressed affection towards Pride Month celebrations.
we played peak today and and bingbong CAME TO LIFE

Streamers realized too late: “We almost left a real dev just in the water.”
What’s even better is Bingbong has his own voice volume slider. Because of course he does.
The playful teasing is harmlessly amusing and perfectly in line with the brand’s style. It leaves gamers guessing about their opponents’ true identities. Indeed, someone even questioned whether Bingbong was inappropriate.
A little over a month since its debut, I’m still immersed in the vibrant world of PEAK. The community continues to grow, stream, and unintentionally critique real game developers. Gaming has never felt more bizarre, yet we wouldn’t trade this unique experience for anything else.
