Patrick Schwarzenegger Says He Auditioned for ‘Superman’ But Was Told it ‘Wasn’t For You’: ‘I Don’t Think I Got Any Feedback’

I had been considered for the role of Superman in James Gunn’s eagerly awaited “Superman” remake.

On the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, host Josh Horowitz inquired whether Arnold Schwarzenegger had taken on more than his fair share of superhero tryouts throughout his career, to which Schwarzenegger responded negatively. He then proceeded to explain that he had auditioned for three superhero roles: Homelander from “The Boys”, Golden Boy from “Gen V” (which he eventually secured), and Superman.

Schwarzenegger mentioned that he didn’t progress much past sending his audition tape, also stating, “I don’t believe I received any response. I think it was something like, ‘Thank you, but no thank you.’

David Corenswet is set to take on the main character in “Superman,” set for release on July 11. Meanwhile, Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined the cast for Season 3 of “The White Lotus.” In this HBO production directed by Mike White, Schwarzenegger portrays Saxon Ratliff, a self-assured finance mogul son of a wealthy Southern family.

Arnold Schwarzenegger mentioned that since the pandemic, he’s only had two face-to-face auditions: one was for “The Idea of You,” a role he didn’t get, and another was for “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” where he portrayed future NFL quarterback Tim Tebow.

In his Zoom auditions, Schwarzenegger explained that “It feels very unusual to act with someone since there’s only one person on the screen at a time. When they speak, their image appears, and when it’s your turn to talk, yours does. This can be quite disconcerting because sometimes they’re still speaking when you respond, and then it suddenly switches to you, which is really distracting.
