Patricia Arquette to Lead Murdaugh Family Scripted Series at Hulu

As a seasoned cinema enthusiast with a penchant for true crime dramas and a soft spot for Patricia Arquette‘s captivating performances, I can’t help but be thrilled by this latest development! With her impressive track record of bringing characters to life on both the big and small screens, Arquette is undoubtedly the perfect choice to delve into the intricate world of the Murdaugh family.

According to our sources, Patricia Arquette is expected to take on a leading part in the Hulu miniseries focusing on the Murdaugh family, which we’ve learned is titled “EbMaster“.

The series was initially mentioned as being in the works at Hulu back in November 2022. Now that Arquette has joined the cast, it’s officially been greenlit for production.

According to its official summary, the series is inspired by the extraordinary family saga of Maggie (Arquette) and Alex Murdaugh, a compelling narrative that’s been painstakingly researched by Mandy Matney, a journalist known for her popular ‘Murdaugh Murders Podcast’, along with exclusive insights gained from years of following this case.

For several decades, the Murdaugh family held significant power in the Lowcountry region of South Carolina, exerting both legal and political control. However, over the past ten years or so, they’ve faced numerous allegations of wrongdoing, from financial fraud to suspected homicides. The family has been a recurring theme in podcasts like “Murdaugh Murders,” as well as various documentaries and news features.

Michael D. Fuller and Erin Lee Carr collaborate as co-creators and take on the role of executive producers for the yet-unnamed series. Notably, Fuller will additionally serve as the showrunner. Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund, under their Eat the Cat label, will also join as executive producers. Moreover, Matney is included in the executive producer lineup. UCP serves as the studio behind this project, and Antosca and his team at Eat the Cat are currently bound by an overall deal with UCP.

Returning to work with Eat the Cat, UCP, and Hulu, Arquette is now involved in a true crime series. Previously, she had partnered with all these entities on the limited series “The Act.” Arquette’s remarkable performance as Dee Dee Blanchard in this show earned her both an Emmy and Golden Globe for best supporting actress in a limited series.

In recent years, Arquette has earned Emmy nominations for her performances in the Showtime series “Escape at Dannemora,” which also brought her a Golden Globe win, and “Severance” on Apple TV+. Previously, she was awarded an Emmy for best actress in a drama for her role in “Medium.” On the big screen, Arquette has garnered both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for best supporting actress in “Boyhood,” and has appeared in films such as “True Romance,” “Bringing Out the Dead,” “Stigmata,” and “Lost Highway.

She is repped by Gersh, 3 Arts Entertainment and Goodman Genow.
