Despite the passage of time since their fame first burst onto the scene with “The Simple Life” reality show, which significantly influenced the landscape of television in the 2000s, Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton continue to demonstrate that age is merely a figure.

Two decades have passed, and the once-famous friends and high-society favorites are back with a revamped version of their show, titled “Paris & Nicole: Encore,” now available on Peacock. The series, primarily based in L.A., chronicles the adventures of the duo as they reconnect with old friends from their hometown, and then embark on a new endeavor to put together a two-person opera inspired by the term “sanasa” – an inside joke they coined during the original series. This playful project is a modern twist on the premise of the original show, which featured Richie and Hilton trying out various blue-collar jobs like fast food workers and hotel staff.
In the trailer, someone comments, “Since they’re not particularly skilled musically or well-versed in the arts, they’ll need to excel elsewhere.” However, it should be noted that these individuals are tenacious and refuse to quit easily.
In a conversation with The New York Times, Richie described the contrast between filming “The Simple Life” and its reboot by stating, “We had a regular work schedule, coming in and going home each day, which meant we weren’t away from our usual location.
In essence, what sets ‘Encore’ apart from ‘The Simple Life’ is that for the former, we were the ones creating and producing the show, rather than signing up to do someone else’s production. It was a lot of fun being involved in every aspect of ‘Encore’.
