Paramount Sets Glen Powell’s ‘Running Man’ Remake for Fall 2025, ‘Naked Gun’ Reboot and ‘Smurfs’ Musical for Summer

As a seasoned movie buff with decades of film-watching under my belt, I must say that 2025 is shaping up to be quite the year for cinema enthusiasts! With Glen Powell stepping into the shoes of The Running Man, I can’t help but wonder if he’s going to outrun his previous charismatic performances. Edgar Wright at the helm? Count me in!

Following a successful year that won over rom-com lovers, storm chasers, and even hitmen alike, Glen Powell has now confirmed his next significant acting project set for release in 2025.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be taking center stage in the upcoming remake of “The Running Man,” directed by the brilliant Edgar Wright. This exhilarating film is set to hit theaters through Paramount Pictures on November 21, 2025 – a date I can hardly wait for! The announcement was made official just last Friday. Can’t wait to bring this iconic story to life!

The dates for various movies scheduled for 2025 have been rearranged. Originally slated for July 18, the “Naked Gun” reboot featuring Liam Neeson has been pushed back to August 1. In its place on July 18 will be an animated musical “Smurfs” film starring Rihanna, which was previously scheduled for February 14, 2025. Lastly, the horror movie “Vicious,” led by Dakota Fanning, has been moved from August 8 to February 28, 2025.

The historical drama titled ‘September 5’ focusing on the 1972 Munich Olympic hostage crisis from the viewpoint of ABC Sports news team, has been scheduled for a release during awards season. It will initially be screened in select theaters on November 29 and will expand its release to more cinemas on December 13.
