Paradox’s big space strategy is about to get a lot bigger. Stellaris 4.0 gets release date, and BioGenesis expansion will provide „power over life itself”

Yesterday marked the beginning of Season 9 in Stellaris, and Paradox Interactive has shared details about their development strategy. The highly-anticipated BioGenesis expansion is set to launch as part of this season, alongside the already-announced 4.0 update, codenamed Phoenix.

Fans are encouraged to set aside their schedules for May 5, 2025, as that’s when we expect the upcoming expansion and patch 4.0 will be released. The new season offers three additional DLCs, including the currently available BioGenesis, Shadows of the Shroud, and the yet-to-be-released Infernals Species Pack. At this point, we don’t have the exact release date but only an estimated timeline provided in our published roadmap.

As a gamer eagerly anticipating the new expansion for BioGenesis, I can’t help but wonder what extraordinary powers I’ll be granted over life itself. From my understanding, this expansion is set to unveil an array of intriguing elements, including the ability to manipulate and control life on an unprecedented scale.

  1. two biological shipsets;
  2. 3 new origins – Evolutionary Predators, Starlit Citadel, and Wilderness;
  3. 6 new Civics;
  4. another megastructure – a citadel in deep space.

Regarding the last two downloadable content packs: “Shadows of the Shroud” not only offers fresh content but also lets us shape the spiritual direction of the empire via an altered Shroud system. The “Infernal Species Pack,” as the title implies, expands the roster with temperature-resistant species.

You can buy each expansion separately, or opt for a bundle which includes them all when purchasing a battle pass on Valve’s platform, priced at $44.99.

The creators behind Stellaris won’t keep quiet until the launch date of the BioGenesis expansion. They’ve unveiled a comprehensive plan for their presentations, where they’ll delve into the specifics of the upcoming content. The next event in this series is set for March 27 (Thursday) and will primarily discuss biological ships.
