What is Paradise Season 2 Episode 6 about?

Paradise Season 2, Episode 6, delves into Jane Driscoll’s backstory. Meanwhile, in the present day, Redmond takes control, Link asks for something specific, and Xavier continues his pursuit of Teri.

The story begins on May 29, 1997, when a man receives a chilling prophecy: a killer will be born on June 6th at 12:01 AM. This date happens to be the birthday of Jane Driscoll. Unfortunately, her mother struggles to connect with the baby, and things worsen when the man reveals to her that her daughter is destined to become an unstoppable killer.

We’re introduced to young Jane, who experiences hallucinations and pretends to have friends. These hallucinations instruct her to commit a dangerous act – locking her mother and her mother’s partner in a sauna and turning up the heat. This leads to a harsh and emotionally damaging outburst from her mother, revealing a lack of affection and sparking questions about whether Jane’s behavior is due to her upbringing or inherent traits.

The episode flashes back ten years. We see Jane training at ‘The Farm,’ but her past psychological issues are holding her back from active duty. Her boss steps in to mentor her, teaching her advanced fighting skills and techniques to manage her internal struggles. She also learns to closely observe people – noticing subtle cues and patterns – giving her an edge in any situation.

This section shows Jane’s passion for video game consoles, and her boss begins to regret encouraging her, especially after she seriously injures a competitor.

Redmond collaborates with Jane

Like previous episodes of Paradise, this one cuts between scenes from the past and present. It begins with Xavier making a bomb as a diversion, hoping to rescue Teri, who he thinks is being held captive by Link’s team.

Robinson is arrested and charged with the President’s murder. She’s taken to a secret underground prison, where she at first refuses to cooperate with Jeremy Bradford, but eventually decides to help him.

Their goal is to cut off the oxygen, which will then cause the bunker doors to unlock and open on their own.

As Link and his allies gather and the government struggles with instability, Redmond sees a chance to act against the danger she believes is coming. However, this requires her to collaborate with Jane, someone she finds deeply frightening.

Driscoll is honest with Jane, explaining she feels like a tool used by others. Because of this, Redmond directs her to step outside while Jane arranges a meeting with Link.

When Gabby came back, she confronted Jane, letting her know she knew the truth about her and her identity. Jane retorted that if Gabby was after Redmond, she would have to deal with her first.

The story returns to Xavier, who sets a bomb, but quickly realizes Gary intends to kill him with it. Xavier manages to escape the explosion, and just as armed men approach, Teri sees her husband. The episode ends with their emotional reunion.
