‘Panchayat’ Sets Season 4 Bow at Prime Video as Hit Indian Comedy-Drama Marks Fifth Anniversary (EXCLUSIVE)

The highly anticipated fourth season of “Panchayat” on Prime Video is now scheduled, marking five years since its debut in 2020 for the acclaimed Indian comedy-drama series.

Made by The Viral Fever (TVF), this series has earned a devoted fanbase through its initial three critically-acclaimed seasons. It’s known for its unique mix of rural authenticity, relatable characters, and emotional narratives. The forthcoming episode is set to carry on the everyday tales in the fictional town of Phulera.

In a small village in northern India, Uttar Pradesh, Abhishek – an engineering graduate – takes on the role of secretary at the local council office (the panchayat) due to limited job opportunities. As the story unfolds in Season 4, Abhishek and the vibrant townspeople of Phulera face fresh obstacles while maintaining their unique blend of humor and emotional depth.

Deepak Kumar Mishra resumes his role as director for the upcoming episodes of the show, following scripts penned by Chandan Kumar. The complete cast, which includes Jitendra Kumar portraying Abhishek, the hesitant village council secretary, is set to return along with seasoned actors such as Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, and Sanvikaa.

Deepak Kumar Mishra will be back to direct the new episodes of a show written by Chandan Kumar. The same group of actors, including Jitendra Kumar (Abhishek), Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, and Sanvikaa, will also be returning to their roles.

The series titled “Panchayat” will be added to Prime Video India’s expanding collection of returning hits, which already boasts popular local productions like “Mirzapur,” “The Family Man,” and “Made in Heaven.” The second season of “Panchayat” is scheduled to premiere on July 2.

For popular shows, “Mirzapur” is not only working on Season 4 but is also set to hit the big screen with a movie scheduled for 2026. Meanwhile, “Call Me Bae”, the coming-of-age comedy, has been given the go-ahead for a second season.

Due to the ongoing success of “Panchayat,” Amazon Prime Video decided to produce another comedy-drama set in rural northern India titled “Dupahiya.” This Hindi series, known for its mix of witty humor and endearing small-town appeal, has been given the green light for a second season following its debut season’s popularity among viewers and critics alike.
