Palworld Reaches Massive New Player Milestone, Year 2 Promised To Be Even Better

It was recently disclosed by developer Pocketpair that the number of Palworld players has hit an impressive new high. In fact, the game now boasts over 32 million players, a figure achieved just one year after its launch in January 2024.

This game is available across multiple platforms, such as Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam. It initially debuted in January 2024 for PC and Xbox, while the PS5 version was released in September 2024. At present, it can still be considered a work-in-progress, with Pocketpair providing regular updates and enhancements through Early Access on PC and Game Preview on Xbox.

Although Palworld hasn’t achieved sales of 32 million copies, it’s important to note that the game is accessible through Game Pass, so its total number of users may be higher. Furthermore, being part of the Game Preview program on Xbox allows players to test any game for a certain period without charge.

The community leader from Palworld expresses gratitude for the fans’ backing and assures them that the team is committed to enhancing Palworld’s second year even further! Exciting developments are on the horizon for Palworld, such as co-op play across platforms, fresh endgame material, new creatures, and much more, according to its upcoming plans.

In the initial phase, the expansion of Palworld was relatively sluggish, as one might anticipate. Back in 2024, within just the first 30 days, it managed to amass a player base of 25 million on both PC and Xbox. Since then, its user count has surpassed an additional 7 million players across all platforms.

In September 2024, legal action was taken by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company against Pocketpair in Japan due to allegations of patent violations. This dispute is still being resolved. One expert opines that Nintendo decided to sue Pocketpair because they observed the game’s popularity and felt compelled to take action as part of a calculated, ruthless business strategy.

In light of the ongoing legal proceedings, Sony and Pocketpair are joining forces on a merchandising agreement for Palworld, aiming to broaden the scope of the franchise beyond just video games.
