The Mandalorian, the first Star Wars television series, debuted in 2019 and quickly became popular, running for three seasons until April 2023. While creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni had finished writing a fourth season, Lucasfilm decided to shift direction. Instead of continuing the series, they opted to create a new Star Wars movie based on The Mandalorian’s story. This movie, titled The Mandalorian and Grogu, was announced in January 2024 and wrapped up filming in December 2024.
