Seth Rogen is creating a new Muppet Show special for Disney+, set to release in 2026, as reported by THR and other sources. Singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter will star in the special and also help produce it. The project is timed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show, and the creators hope it will lead to a full revival of the series.

I’ve been a Muppets fan for years, and I’ve seen them try a few different approaches to bring the show back. In the ’90s, there was *Muppets Tonight*, which felt a lot like the original, but with Clifford hosting as this really energetic, late-night style character. Then in 2015, *The Muppets* was this funny mockumentary, like *The Office*, showing what went on behind the scenes. More recently, *Muppets Now* on Disney+ tried to jump on the short-form video trend. Disney+ even gave a full reboot a shot with *The Electric Mayhem*. But this new *Muppet Show* special feels different – it’s being made with the Muppets Studio *and* Point Grey Pictures, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s company. Honestly, I have a feeling this one is going to be special, and maybe even win some awards!

Nexstar, a broadcasting company, didn’t specify exactly what Jimmy Kimmel said that bothered them, and ABC hasn’t explained their decision further. However, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr had previously criticized a segment from Kimmel’s Monday show, where he discussed the person who attacked Charlie Kirk, accusing the attacker’s supporters of trying to downplay their connection to him for political gain. Around 6 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, Nexstar released a statement saying they strongly disagreed with Kimmel’s comments and would replace the show with other programs on their ABC stations. When asked for comment, ABC confirmed that *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* would be taken off the air indefinitely.
