Dune: Prophecy Series-Premiere Recap: 10,000 Years Before Chalamet
Before Denis Villeneuve, it appeared that turning Frank Herbert’s novel “Dune” into a successful movie seemed like an unattainable aspiration. David Lynch had attempted this under the guidance of producers Dino and Raffaella De Laurentiis, but their efforts yielded minimal critical or commercial acclaim. In fact, the concept of adapting “Dune” was often more intriguing than the reality of doing so. The most notable interpretation of the story remains Alejandro Jodorowsky’s imaginative vision, as portrayed in the documentary “Jodorowsky’s Dune.” This vision featured music by Pink Floyd, visual effects by Dan O’Bannon and H.R. Giger, and a star-studded cast that included Salvador Dalí, Orson Welles, Mick Jagger, and Udo Kier in prominent roles. Unfortunately, funding was withdrawn due to numerous ambitious decisions made by Jodorowsky, such as casting his own son as Paul Atreides.
