Released more than ten years after the first film, *The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2* feels like a natural continuation of the story. It introduces a new group of victims and expands on the terrifying history of the Sawyer family, also featuring new characters who have become franchise staples. Beyond its entertainment value, the film cleverly uses a common Hollywood technique – and when executed well, as it is here – a sequel can often be even better than the original.

Rebecca Miller’s film, *Mr. Scorsese*, isn’t a traditional documentary but rather a portrait of the director’s life and career. Across five episodes, Miller covers a vast amount of ground, from the formative stories of Scorsese’s childhood – which shaped films like *Who’s That Knocking at My Door* – to the production of his latest movie, *Killers of the Flower Moon* (also an Apple TV+ project).

Netflix rarely releases movies in theaters, but they’ve started doing limited releases for some of their bigger films before they stream online—like they’re planning to do with the new *Knives Out* sequel. However, they’ve never re-released a movie in theaters months after it was already available on Netflix. Now, *KPop Demon Hunters* is breaking that pattern.

The eight-part series, *The Ed Gein Story*, chronicles the life of Ed Gein, from his upbringing and relationship with his mother, Augusta, to the crimes he committed – both proven and suspected – in the 1950s. It also covers his time in a mental institution and ultimately, his death. A surprising part of the series depicts Gein assisting the FBI in solving the Ted Bundy case. When exploring the lives of such infamous individuals, understanding the true events surrounding them is crucial.

The new *Bosch* show, *Bosch: Start of Watch*, will be different from previous installments, as it explores Harry Bosch’s early days as a rookie police officer – something Michael Connelly hasn’t focused on much before. Traditionally, each *Bosch* season adapts one or two of Connelly’s books, but this one is set in 1991 and follows a 26-year-old Bosch as he investigates a major heist and widespread corruption, putting his principles to the test. (Don’t worry, he remains dedicated to his job!) Unlike other *Bosch* series, this one will stream on MGM+ instead of Prime Video. But fans can still get their fix with the recently renewed second season of *Ballard*, or by watching *The Lincoln Lawyer* on Netflix – did you know the two shows share a universe, as Bosch and the Lincoln Lawyer are half-brothers? A fun fact to share at your next gathering!

You’ve almost certainly seen the work of Drew Struzan, even if you don’t know his name. He created iconic movie posters for films like *The Thing* and the *Harry Potter* series, and essentially defined the look of the modern blockbuster. His paintings were known for their smooth, radiant quality – they seemed to glow and hinted at the magic within. These posters promised exciting adventures, memorable characters, and high production values. Beyond that, his work, especially the *Indiana Jones* posters, linked the new wave of blockbuster films to the classic glamour of Hollywood’s Golden Age. They marked a shift away from the grittier style of the 1970s and signaled a return to big, glossy visuals and sweeping scores.

It’s no surprise that the new movie draws heavily from the stories Aziz Ansari shared in his earlier Netflix series. I recently talked to Ansari about the upcoming release of *Good Fortune*, and when I brought up *Master of None*, he explained how it influenced the film.
