It’s confirmed that a fresh TV show set within the Pacific Rim universe is being developed! Although details are still scarce at this point, here’s what we know so far.
In the 2010s, the story of Jaegers battling Kaijus held viewers spellbound, and in 2013, Pacific Rim made its grand entrance into cinemas, shattering the box office by being one of the most successful new intellectual properties in years.
Over the subsequent years, we witnessed a less-than-spectacular follow-up titled Pacific Rim: Uprising and a Netflix-hosted anime series that ran for two seasons.
Changes are coming, as it’s now official that a new live-action television show is on its way. Here’s what enthusiasts can anticipate as Pacific Rim prepares to make a grand return to our screens, soon.
Is there a release date yet?
As of now, there’s no confirmed release date for the new Pacific Rim series. Since it’s still early in the production process, we might need to wait a couple of years before catching any glimpses of it.
It’s quite likely that the release will take place between the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027, assuming the progress continues as planned.
Where will it be streaming?
According to a report by Variety on April 17th, 2025, the exclusive streaming rights for the new Pacific Rim series have been acquired by Amazon. Therefore, you can expect the series to be available only on Prime Video once it’s ready for release.

What is the Pacific Rim TV show about?
As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share that based on Variety’s trusted sources, the Pacific Rim series is shaping up to be a prequel to the movies we all love. While the exact timeframe isn’t clear yet, it promises to delve into the origins of this thrilling saga.
In the initial movie titled ‘The Breach’, a significant event occurred in 2013 when Kaijus surfaced from the Pacific Ocean, causing destruction. The upcoming series might delve into this timeframe as the film skipped to 2025 in its narrative, and we caught a glimpse of the world in 2035 in the sequel ‘Uprising’.
In this scenario, a preliminary story centered on the origin of the monsters might introduce a completely different set of characters. These could include political figures, the initial team of Jaeger engineers, and pilots. The opportunities for creative exploration are vast.
Do we know the cast and crew?
As I write this, no actors have yet been confirmed for the upcoming Pacific Rim TV series. However, it’s worth noting that Eric Heisserer, who was nominated for an Academy Award, will be taking on dual roles as the show’s writer and executive producer.
In the year 2017, Heisserer received a nomination for his adapted screenplay titled “Arrival”. Movie enthusiasts who enjoy horror films might recognize his contributions to “Bird Box” and the 2010 version of “Nightmare on Elm Street”.
For now, we don’t have much information to work with, but it seems unlikely that any of the original cast will reappear since this is a prequel.
Is there a trailer?
Currently, since the filming hasn’t started, it’s premature to release a trailer. However, in the interim, I’ve placed the original movie’s trailer beneath for your enjoyment and a touch of nostalgia.
For the time being, this is everything we can share about the Pacific Rim TV series. Keep checking back here, as we’ll be sure to provide any additional details as soon as more information becomes available.
