Pac-Man Game Shutting Down In May

Bandai Namco has revealed that they’ll be closing Pac-Man for mobile devices on May 30th. However, gamers still have the opportunity to keep enjoying the game right up until it shuts down.

The notice to shut down in-app purchases for the Pac-Man game was issued by the game itself, the Apple App Store, and Google Play Store. Starting April 1st, in-app purchases will no longer be an option. This version of the game offers the classic 8-bit arcade experience from the original, along with Story Mode’s unique mazes. In addition, Adventure Mode features themed events that grant players exclusive skins on a limited basis.

It’s worth mentioning that the game called Pac-Man, without any subtitle or extra branding, will be closing down by 2025, as it marks the 45th anniversary of the series. However, Bandai Namco is observing the anniversary in various ways. For instance, Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture is planning a special Pac-Man exhibit from April 30 to June 4, and there’s a themed event scheduled for May 10. Moreover, a Pac-Man retrospective exhibition will run at the Great Park Gallery in Irvine, California from May 18 to September 28.

In addition to their regular merchandise, Club America will temporarily sell jerseys themed around the classic game character Pac-Man. Furthermore, Bandai Namco is collaborating with stores such as Walmart to introduce fresh lines of Pac-Man toys, clothing, and other items.

Lastly, the gritty and shadowy spin-off of the platformer series, titled Shadow Labyrinth, will be available for purchase on July 18 across multiple platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S.
