Since Pac-Man’s rise as an arcade icon, he’s appeared in numerous games, but Bandai Namco’s upcoming metroidvania titled Shadow Labyrinth could be the most unusual yet. In this game, our well-known character with an unquenchable hunger will team up with a swordsman in a side-scrolling action adventure. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has given it a T for Teen rating. During the Nintendo Direct in March, Bandai Namco revealed that Shadow Labyrinth will be available on July 18 for Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Preorders are currently open for three physical editions, one of which is the Secret Edition priced at $60 and comes with several collectibles.
Currently, the physical versions of Shadow Labyrinth (standard edition) and its Secret Editions are available only on Nintendo Switch and PS5. It remains undecided whether Bandai Namco plans to release physical copies for Xbox Series X in the future.
Shadow Labyrinth Preorder Bonuses
Every preorder for Shadow Labyrinth comes with a special addition called “Original Arcade Sound FX.” This downloadable content brings back Pac-Man’s classic arcade sound effects from his legendary past.
The game “Shadow Labyrinth” will be offering a unique Collector’s Edition worth $100, only available through the Bandai Namco Store. This special edition comes with a Shadow Box, Collector’s Box, and Art Journal. It can be played on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
In this upcoming action-platformer set in a war-torn planet, you’ll explore and unravel secrets much like in traditional metroidvania games. As Swordsman No. 8, you’ll battle an assortment of alien creatures, with your ravenous sidekick Puck (Pac-Man) by your side. The fate of the previous seven swordsmen remains a mystery, but it’s safe to assume they didn’t have a pleasant end.
Pac-Man 45th Anniversary Merch
Shadow Labyrinth is one of the offerings for Bandai Namco’s 45th anniversary tribute to their iconic arcade hero. However, it’s not the only thrilling Pac-Man item coming soon! A line of Banpresto plush toys featuring Pac-Man and his Ghost companions will be available on Amazon. Some of the Ghost characters were released earlier this year, with Pac-Man set to debut on April 25th.
