I’m the focus of a fresh documentary on Paramount+, entitled “No Escape From Now.” This film will delve into my health struggles and my last concert with Black Sabbath, marking what seems to be their farewell performance.
The extended film, now being made and planned for release on the streaming platform by year’s end, will uncover the challenging hardships experienced by the 76-year-old British man since his unfortunate fall in 2019, as stated in a recent press announcement.
The documentary offers an unprecedented look at Ozzy Osbourne, revealing him as a sincere, affectionate, and introspective individual who is one of the most iconic rock musicians of all time. The film delves into how his life was dramatically altered six years ago, leading him to ponder his identity, confront his own mortality, and wonder if he could perform live for the final time. The synopsis reveals that the movie discusses Ozzy’s health struggles, including his Parkinson’s diagnosis, while also highlighting the crucial role music still plays in his life and showcasing his characteristic humor, which continues to thrive amidst all challenges.
Under the guidance of BAFTA-winning director Tania Alexander (“Gogglebox”), the documentary started recording in 2022, during the production of Ozzy Osbourne’s 13th album, “Patient Number 9”. The filming will continue until what the rock legend refers to as his last performance with Black Sabbath in his birthplace, Birmingham, England on July 5.
Over the past six years, I’ve faced some of the toughest challenges I’ve ever encountered. There were moments when I felt like my time had come to an end,” Osbourne shared in a statement. “However, creating music and producing two albums helped me get through it all. Without music, I might have gone insane.
He mentioned, “I’ve been deeply grateful for my fans’ support over the years, and I truly wish to express my thanks and bid them farewell in an appropriate manner. This is the essence of the Villa Park event.
The documentary will showcase Sharon Osbourne, her family, and several well-known musicians including Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath, Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Robert Trujillo from Metallica, Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan of Tool, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, guitarist Zakk Wylde, producer Andrew Watt, and musician Billy Morrison.
Sharon Osbourne stated that this movie offers an accurate portrayal of Ozzy’s recent experiences. It reveals the challenges he has faced and his bravery in overcoming numerous health problems, including Parkinson’s. The film focuses on his current life struggles. We collaborated with a reliable production team who were given creative freedom to present the story candidly. We hope that this tale will motivate those dealing with similar difficulties as Ozzy.
Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now” is a joint production between Echo Velvet, the Osbournes, and MTV Entertainment Studios. Bruce Gillmer and Amanda Culkowski from MTV Entertainment Studios, Phil Alexander from Echo Velvet, and Sharon Osbourne serve as executive producers.
