Osgood Perkins, renowned for his contemporary horror masterpieces such as Longlegs and The Monkey, continues to cement his status as one of the genre’s most innovative thinkers. His upcoming production, mysteriously titled Keeper, remains veiled in enigma, but NEON, a master in modern film promotion, is once again demonstrating their prowess. A thrilling announcement of a partnership with Perkins has led to NEON unveiling an ominous video that hints at the director’s impending movie and its intriguing marketing strategy. Prepare for things to get peculiar.
Yesterday, NEON utilized YouTube for a live broadcast. The video, titled “It has no end,” lasted exactly 66 minutes and 6 seconds – a duration that seems significant (yes, it’s 666). This video can be found on YouTube and portrays a distressing and repetitive scene of a woman (Tatiana Maslany) fixated on the camera, while a hand is seen scribbling in a notebook. It remains unclear whether she’s doing the writing or if she’s alive or deceased. The sound of the writing serves as an unsettling ASMR element that you might find challenging to shake off.
(The synopsis is provided below)
(Synopsis of Keeper): In a post-apocalyptic world where humanity struggles to survive, one man must protect his family and community from an ancient evil that has been awakened. With the help of a mysterious woman, he will uncover secrets about his past and the true nature of the evil force threatening them all. The fate of humanity rests in their hands as they race against time to stop the impending doom.
The Guardian accompanies a pair as they depart for a romantic anniversary getaway at a remote cabin. However, Malcolm (Sutherland) unexpectedly heads back to the city, leaving Liz (Maslany) alone and confronting an unspeakable terror that reveals the chilling mysteries hidden within the cabin’s walls.
Osgood Perkins’ Relationship With NEON Has Evolved
Yesterday, it was announced that Oz Perkins and NEON have struck a deal which is likely to be beneficial for both the budding director and the horror genre. Perkins, in collaboration with Chris Ferguson, has now formed his own production company called Phobos, with NEON acquiring distribution rights for all films produced under this banner, as well as those written and directed by Perkins himself. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones will continue to serve as a producer on Perkins’ projects, having been involved since the film Gretel & Hansel.
According to Variety, NEON plans to debut the movies in U.S. cinemas and handle the international distribution rights. NEON CEO Tom Quinn was thrilled about the agreement they reached with the director of “I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House“. With “Keeper“, this is their third partnership, following NEON’s support for Perkins’ adaptations of Stephen King’s “The Monkey” and “Longlegs“, which was the studio’s most profitable film. Quinn commented:
Osgood Perkins is unique – fearless, imaginative, consistently humorous, and operating on a wavelength that’s distinctively his own. His work stays with you, delving deep into your thoughts, much like exceptional art does. With NEON as his creative base, Oz will keep experimenting, stretching the limits of his cinematic cosmos. We’re excited to accompany him on this journey with Phobos and Osgood Perkins.
