In the initial glimpses from Apple TV+’s forthcoming golf-themed comedy “Stick”, set to debut on June 4, Owen Wilson is seen teeing off.
Developed by Jason Keller, who is also a co-writer of “Ford v Ferrari,” this series centers around Wilson as Pryce Cahill, a once-promising professional golfer whose career came to an abrupt end 20 years ago. Following the breakdown of his marriage and job loss at an Indiana sports store, Pryce pins his hopes on a talented but troubled teenager named Santi (played by Peter Dager). Apple characterizes this series as a “warm-hearted, uplifting comedy” that explores the unique bonds and relationships within the world of golf like never before.
In the upcoming series “Stick,” actors such as Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, Judy Greer, and Timothy Olyphant are among the stars. The show is set to premiere with three episodes, followed by a weekly release of one episode thereafter. Golf pros Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley, Max Homa, Wyndham Clark will make special appearances on the show, along with broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman. Additionally, members of the band Good Good like Matt Scharff, Brad Dalke, and Garrett Clark, as well as golf enthusiast Dan Rapaport are also expected to appear in the series.
Keller serves as the head of “Stick’s” production team, working alongside Wilson. Additionally, Silverman for Propagate Content and Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady are also involved in executive producing the series. Furthermore, Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Drew Buckley, Lee Eisenberg, Natalie Sandy, Christopher Moynihan, Bill Callahan, Valerie Faris, and Jonathan Dayton all take on executive producer roles for the show. Notably, Faris and Dayton are also the directors for the series, with David Dobkin, Jaffar Mahmood, M.J. Delaney, and John Hamburg contributing as directors as well.
