Overwatch releasing fan-made skins that give heroes regular jobs

Overwatch is adding skins created by fans as part of its latest update. These winning designs were chosen through a competition held in China and will now be available to players worldwide.

Each hero in Overwatch has a rich backstory, and many of their costumes tie into that history. But Blizzard also loves to have fun, regularly releasing quirky and creative outfits that give the characters a completely different look.

A recent competition in China allowed fans to create custom skins for popular game characters. The five winning designs are now available worldwide for all players to use.

Fan-made Overwatch skins coming in mid-Season 2 update

Overwatch China announced on their Weibo page that three new skins will be released on May 12th with the mid-Season 2 update. These skins reimagine the heroes with everyday jobs, based on a competition theme asking, “What if the Omnic Crisis never happened?”

Maid Ramattra, Firefighter Wuyang, and Fitness Trainer Vendetta are confirmed to be released on this date. We don’t have release dates yet for the other winners – Baker Kirikio, Beach Juno, and Scientist Moira – but we’ll share updates as soon as they’re available.

We don’t yet know how players will get these items, but they’ll probably be available to purchase in the game store. Alternatively, they might be earned as rewards during the upcoming Overwatch Anniversary event, which will start shortly after the next update.

Overwatch China announced that the upcoming anniversary event, celebrating 10 years of the game, will include 10 new skins. It’s currently unknown whether these skins will only be available in China or if players worldwide will also be able to get them.
