Overwatch 2’s Loot Box Comeback: Players Demand Even More!

As a die-hard Overwatch fan, I’ve got to say, the comeback of loot boxes in Overwatch 2 has been nothing short of epic! However, there’s one issue that’s been causing a stir among the gaming community – it seems players have found an issue.

As an avid Overwatch enthusiast, I must say that Season 15 was nothing short of phenomenal! It introduced brand-new Perks for every character, and as if that wasn’t enough, it came with the customary Battle Pass bursting with captivating skins. However, what truly made this season stand out was the long-awaited comeback of loot boxes. After years of anticipation, we finally got to experience the thrill of opening them once more!

In the transition to becoming free-to-play, the hero shooter game introduced a Battle Pass system with its sequel release, abandoning the previous feature. However, players expressed dissatisfaction as they felt the Battle Pass wasn’t rewarding enough. As a result, the developers have reintroduced that abandoned feature again.

The decision has been enthusiastically accepted by the community, given they’re entirely free to access. Yet, there’s one problem preventing it from being an undeniable success.

Overwatch 2 players are desperate for more loot boxes

Since it’s not possible to purchase them directly with real cash, gamers are advocating for additional chances to unlock loot boxes. At present, they can be obtained via the Battle Pass, challenges, and event rewards, but there seems to be a strong demand for even more options.

One player on Reddit expressed a desire for more loot boxes, stating that they currently have too few and are hoping Blizzard will provide more chances to acquire them.

Many other players concurred, expressing that they had exhausted all the current content, leaving them anticipating the upcoming updates.

It’s true that the interest is sky-high, causing players to brainstorm fresh ideas on how to acquire more of them. For instance, a supporter proposed that loot boxes could offer an experience (XP) boost when you join roles where fewer players are participating. This would encourage people to queue for less popular roles, balancing the player distribution and potentially enhancing the gaming experience for everyone.

Simultaneously, some players proposed that these items should be bought using In-game Credits. These credits are typically utilized for less expensive skins and can be easily amassed, making them a popular choice among players who prefer spending them on loot boxes as they offer the possibility of obtaining superior skins.

In an exciting development, Game Director Aaron Keller has guaranteed that more than 100 loot boxes will be rolled out during Season 15 as they make a comeback. But keep in mind that this number is likely to decrease significantly for the following season.

However, following this overwhelmingly favorable reaction and the introduction of our new hero Freja along with Stadium mode in Season 16, it remains to be seen whether they will increase the intensity or scale of these updates.
