Overwatch 2 Season 15 Mid-Season Update: Major Changes and New Skins Revealed!

The mid-season patch for Overwatch 2 Season 15 is set to be another huge update, bringing another major crossover and plenty of hero and Perk balancing changes.

Season 15 was a huge moment for Overwatch, bringing back loot boxes after years away and introducing the new Perks system. The latter was one of the biggest changes to the core gameplay we’d ever seen, and has totally transformed some characters.

As you’d expect though, there have been a few issues when it comes to balancing, as some Perks have become must-uses. Luckily, the mid-season update is the first opportunity to make adjustments, so here are the early patch notes detailing everything we know.

When is OW2 mid-Season 15 update?

The mid-season update for Season 15 is due to arrive on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, four weeks from the start of the season. We know that the latest LE SSERAFIM collab is dropping with the update, and given this is the official release date for the new skins, it also revealed when to expect the patch.

Second LE SSERAFIM crossover

After being teased during OW Spotlight, a new LE SSERAFIM crossover is coming to the game mid-season. This time, we’re getting five new skins for five different characters, all inspired by the group’s latest album, HOT.

The following five heroes are set to star:

  • Juno
  • Illari
  • D.Va
  • Mercy
  • Ashe

These cosmetics will be available from the store, as well as Blue Flame variants of the original skins that dropped at the end of 2024.

The ladies of @le_sserafim are back with another bass bumping collaboration! 🎶

Perk changes

In simple terms, Blizzard has announced that they intend to fine-tune several Perks during the mid-season update. After that, they plan to swap out some existing ones and introduce new Perks in Season 16. Although all the specific changes haven’t been disclosed yet, it’s been made clear that at least one character will undergo modifications.

Hero Designer Scott Kennedy confirmed in a Reddit AMA that Bastion’s self-heal will be getting a resource meter. Prior to the update, the iconic DPS can repair himself on the fly with no cap, making him very difficult to kill unless your team focuses their fire on him.

Moving ahead, however, his ability to heal will be restricted, as it can regenerate gradually, similar to the character Roadhog.

What else to expect

On top of all that, you can also expect the following additions and changes:

  • Hero buffs and nerfs
  • Widowmaker Mythic weapon skin
  • Freja hero trial
  • Bug fixes

The upcoming Season 16 will introduce additional content. Specifically, it includes the introduction of hero bans in Competitive mode and a new game mode called Stadium, which takes inspiration from Counter-Strike.
