The promise of a new Tank Hero, Phreak, is music to my battle-worn ears. I remember the thrill of learning the ins and outs of Mauga back in 2023, and I’m eager to welcome a fresh face into the fray.
Preparations are underway for Overwatch 2 Season 14, promising yet another major overhaul, as we welcome a fresh Tank Hero onto our team – the first addition of its kind since Mauga’s debut back in 2023.
Just started is Season 13, introducing a brand new Battle Pass and an eagerly anticipated My Hero Academia collaboration that fans have long awaited. While there’s still a bit of time until it ends, many are already speculating about the potential surprises that Season 14 may bring.
Here’s everything we know so far about Overwatch 2 Season 14, including the release date.
Release date
In a confirmation from the game’s Battle Pass timer, Overwatch 2 Season 14 is set to start on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Historically, new seasons have been released on Tuesdays, so this timing aligns with that pattern.
The update is scheduled for release at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time, 1 PM Eastern Standard Time, or 6 PM Greenwich Mean Time. Rest assured, there will be no interruption in service as we transition from Season 13 to Season 14.
New Tank in Season 14
As an enthusiastic fan, I’m thrilled to share that every two seasons, we welcome a new Overwatch Hero into our dynamic team. This time, it’s the Tank category that’s getting a fresh addition – a character going by the name of “Phreak“. Intriguingly, his Scottish brogue was hinted at in the Season 13 trailer!

Interestingly enough, it appears that the character known as the Hero was depicted earlier in concept art. Snapshots released by Blizzard, presumed to have been taken prior to Overwatch’s debut, show Phreak sharing space with characters such as Hanzo and Symmetra.
In this piece, I’m showcasing three skills: Cannon, Stomp, and Attract. However, considering the age of this data, it’s quite possible that these abilities might have been tweaked or updated prior to its launch in Season 14.

Based on past patterns, it’s likely that players might get an opportunity to try out Phreak during the latter stages of Season 13, similar to how they tested Juno and Mauga before.
