Overwatch 2 Is Getting G.I. Joe Costumes In July

This past year, characters from Overwatch 2 donned some costumes inspired by Transformers as part of a partnership between Blizzard and Hasbro. Now, these two companies are joining forces once more for an upcoming Overwatch 2 x G.I. Joe collaboration, set to launch next month. Check out the teaser video below to get a sneak peek; it shows legendary G.I. Joe characters like Snake-Eyes and Scarlett, as well as Cobra Commander, Destro, and the Baroness from Cobra, joining the Overwatch 2 lineup.

According to the official website for Overwatch 2, some characters will be receiving costume updates inspired by G.I. Joe or Cobra styles.

  • Genji as Snake Eyes: The elite G.I. Joe operative, a silent blade with unmatched discipline. Deadly, sworn to the mission, never misses.
  • Freja as Scarlett: G.I. Joe’s counterintelligence extraordinaire. The sharpest mind in the room, backed by tactical accuracy and firepower. Crossbow locked. Field-ready. Strategic genius with a mean uppercut.
  • Widowmaker as Baroness: Striking for Cobra with brains, bullets, and betrayal, this femme fatale is lethal. Cold, calculated, always in control and couture.
  • Reaper as Cobra Commander: Unhinged ambition in a chilling new form, schemes sharpened by madness. The face of terror. The voice of chaos. Commands Cobra.
  • Doomfist as Destro: Not just muscle for Cobra, but a mastermind in metal, made of profits, power, and pure strength. Brawler. Steel-plated menace. Built for punching.

Participants can win exclusive voice lines, weapon charms, and sprays reminiscent of the G.I. Joe universe by finishing unique in-game missions during Quick Play, Competitive, or Stadium modes. The collaboration between Overwatch 2 and G.I. Joe kicks off on July 1 and concludes on July 14.

Currently, Overwatch Season 17 is underway, introducing rare Mythic skins for characters D.Va and Reaper. This latest update also incorporates map voting into both Quick Play and Competitive matches, allowing players to influence the location of their upcoming battles.

As a gamer, I was stoked when Overwatch 2 teamed up with Street Fighter and Avatar: The Last Airbender, snagging some cool costumes and rewards in the process. Sadly, those goodies are no longer available for grabs unless I managed to nab them during the collaboration’s active time.
