Players of Overwatch 2 have generally enjoyed the new perk system, but there’s a consensus among the community that one of the original heroes requires some tweaking.
The enhancements made to Overwatch 2, such as reintroducing original skills and bestowing fresh powers upon characters, have significantly enriched the game, providing an additional layer of complexity to the hero-based shooting genre.
During the course of a game, players enhance their characters (heroes) by progressing levels, which in turn grants them unique skill modifications that significantly boost their power. However, when discussing Mei in Overwatch 2, many members of the community believe that the developers could improve her abilities to a greater extent.
At present, Mei’s minor advantage, Permafrost, seems rather unimpressive, extending the duration of her Ice Wall by just an additional two seconds. Many players feel that this aspect needs modification, and they already have a promising suggestion for enhancement.
Simple Overwatch 2 perk change would make Mei way more fun
On Reddit, I stumbled upon a thought-provoking post that later found its way across platforms. As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but share an idea I found particularly intriguing: enhancing Mei’s agility while using her Endothermic Blaster when it’s deployed on the ground. Seems like a small tweak with potential to significantly boost gameplay dynamics!
Fans have previously asked for this capability, and with its added benefits, it appears to be an obvious choice. Interestingly, she also employs this feature in Heroes of the Storm.
The video clearly demonstrated how the special ability functioned, effectively allowing Mei to glide over the ice, granting her a 50% boost in mobility.
In Overwatch 2, let’s imagine that Mei gets an updated ability called Ice Skating Boost. This new skill would accelerate her movements when she runs on ice created by her weapon.
In terms of gameplay, the Endothermic Blaster could grant a 50% speed boost while running on the ice Mei produces.

A player expressed their surprise because the feature they’ve long requested wasn’t added. They also mentioned that the current wall bonus is disappointing, hoping for improvements in the future.
“Wall perk or not, I want to have the ice on the ground boost her speed,” another chimed in.
Someone confessed that they’ve longed for this thing for a really long time, and occasionally, they’d even act as if they had it when departing from where they originated.

Making this adjustment significantly enhances Mei’s ability to move swiftly, enabling her to quickly join battles and also swiftly retreat to secure locations, all the while utilizing her Ice Wall for added protection.
Developers have not shared their plans for balancing perks in the upcoming update as of now, but fans may have the opportunity to test it eventually. It’s particularly exciting considering that Permafrost seems less effective compared to other perks at this time.
