Overwatch 2 Cheater Reaches Champion Without Being Banned By Blizzard

As a seasoned Overwatch 2 player with countless hours under my belt, I’ve seen the good, the bad, and unfortunately, the cheating. The current state of affairs regarding cheaters in Overwatch 2 is nothing short of disheartening. It feels like playing a game of cat and mouse with these nefarious characters who seem to always stay one step ahead.

In Overwatch 2, it seems that dishonest play is no longer unusual but rather a common occurrence, as the game has been battling cheaters for quite some duration now. Despite Blizzard’s persistent attempts to eliminate these cheats through ban waves and reports, they continue to persist. Remarkably, one such cheater has ascended to Champion rank undetected.

If you’re curious about the details surrounding this specific cheater and Blizzard’s strategies to combat cheating within their games, stick around! We’ll delve into the story behind this top-tier cheater, uncover how they managed to slip through the system undetected, and discuss the methods that developers are employing to address cheating in Overwatch 2.

In the world of Overwatch, a variety of cheats, from causing server crashes with game-altering hacks to “Ximming” (which lets console players use mouse and keyboard undetected), have been prevalent among players. Despite Blizzard’s continuous efforts such as banning over half a million accounts and nearly 40,000 accounts that collaborate with cheaters, these unscrupulous individuals persist in flourishing within the community.

On the Asia servers, the top-ranked player is persistently using unacceptable tactics (hard locking) in over 140 games, yet remains unpunished with a ban.

In a recent livestream by Overwatch 2 streamer Kraandop, a cheater had seemingly climbed to rank one on the Asian ranked leaderboard and remained unbanned. During the stream, pro player KSAA asked Kraandop to review a match replay involving the number one-ranked Support player in Asia.

Upon watching, it was clear that the red team’s Baptiste was blatantly using aim-lock cheats against KSAA’s team. This wasn’t just any match either; it was high-level, ranging from Grandmaster 3 to Champion 5. The cheater’s career profile showed an astonishing rise from Diamond 1 to Champion 5 between Season 11 and the current Season 12.

Later on, Kraandop stood in line with the suspected cheater. At first, this individual pretended to be a fan, but fell quiet when questioned about the cheating allegations. As a result, Kraandop and the other players in the game decided to induce a draw, to prevent the suspected cheater from increasing their Elo score. Currently, the cheater has not been banned yet, demonstrating that despite Blizzard’s efforts, there remains a persistent problem of cheaters escaping detection.

The present situation underscores the ongoing challenge Blizzard encounters due to a large number of cheaters in their games. Players can flag them for review, but unfortunately, cheating may persist. Fingers crossed that Blizzard’s Defense Matrix Project brings about a reduction in active cheaters, but for now, gamers need to stay alert, report suspicious activity, and hope for a cleaner gaming environment in Overwatch 2’s top-tier matches – one free of aimbotting and botting cheats.
