2025 will see the return of the annual April Fool’s event in Overwatch 2, with a wealth of details already available on what to expect and the prizes on offer.

In every season, Blizzard introduces fresh events that let fans obtain free skins and cosmetics without cost, ranging from significant collaborations to annual commemorations. One of the most beloved events is the traditional April Fool’s Day event, during which Overwatch displays a more playful side for a brief period.

I’m super pumped! This game that I love is making a comeback this year, and I can’t wait to dive back in.

Start date

Just as anticipated, the event commences on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, which happens to be none other than April Fool’s Day itself. The duration remains uncertain, but given past events, it could stretch over one or two weeks, ensuring ample time for participants to seize every prize.

What to expect

This year’s April Fool’s event details are scarce, but during Overtwatch Spotlight, it was confirmed that the googly eyes from the 2024 version will be back. During the event, outside of competitive play, all heroes will sport oversized, amusing eyes affixed to them throughout matches.

It’s possible that a temporary game mode may be introduced, though it hasn’t been officially confirmed as of now. Previously, this special mode went by the name “Balanced Overwatch,” where characters were equipped with highly enhanced abilities that wouldn’t normally be viable in standard or traditional games.

Instead of using Ramattra’s powerful Annihilation Ultimate as a special ability, it has been shifted to his basic skillset, allowing him to utilize it more frequently in gameplay.

The Long-Term Memory (LTM) was positively received by the community, so it’s quite likely that we might bring it back with some adjustments.

Rewards leaked

Every year on April Fool’s Day, I eagerly anticipate the stream of challenges that promise exciting freebies! It seems some sneaky insiders have already managed to spill the beans about what we can expect this time around.
