The series ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ is set to air on Starz starting August 8, with new episodes released every Friday thereafter.
The upcoming show “Blood of My Blood” is actually a prequel to “Outlander,” which first aired on Starz back in 2014 and has since completed seven seasons, with another one about to start. Unlike the original series, “Blood of My Blood” will introduce new characters and actors, but it will also delve into the pasts of characters we already know from the original show, offering fresh perspectives on some of the events that took place in the original series as well.
The prequel focuses on two primary romantic pairs: Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), along with Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy). They are the parents of Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), who are the main couple in “Outlander.” According to the official synopsis, this new series transports viewers from the tumultuous battlefields of World War I to the vast landscapes of 18th-century Scotland. It promises to introduce two fresh love stories brimming with loyalty, passion, and longing, as these young couples struggle against forces that want to separate them.
In addition to Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, the ensemble of “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” features Tony Curran portraying Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat; Séamus McLean Ross playing Colum MacKenzie; Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie; Rory Alexander in the role of Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser; and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.
