Original Scream And Five Nights At Freddy's Star Hosting Horror-Themed Baking Show

As a seasoned gamer and horror enthusiast with a soft spot for baking shows (thanks to my brief stint as a contestant on Cake Wraiths), I must say I’m rather intrigued by this new offering from Prime Video – Killer Cakes. The prospect of combining my love for the macabre with my secret talent for pastry artistry is too enticing to resist!

As Halloween draws near, Prime Video is gearing up for its latest horror-themed baking competition series titled Killer Cakes. Akin to Halloween Wars on Food Network, where spooky cakes and pastries are the focus, Killer Cakes is a joint production by Blumhouse Television and High Noon Entertainment. This thrilling two-part event is hosted by the talented Matthew Lillard, well-known for his roles in Scream and Five Nights At Freddy’s.

The summary for the show states: “Talented bakers strive to conquer some of the scariest competitions ever aired on TV. In this grueling contest, competitors collaborate with top Hollywood special effects artists to give life to their darkest thoughts and craft cakes so grotesque, unsettling, and lifelike, they could be straight out of your worst nightmares.

8 bakers hailing from different parts of the nation are set to battle it out on the show, vying for the title and a prize purse of $20,000. Lillard will be accompanied by seasoned judges like Danielle Harris, known for her work in the Halloween movie series, and Nikk Alcaraz, a celebrity baker and author, best recognized from Peculiar Baking.

Lillard is increasingly working with Blumhouse Productions, having directed the live-action Five Nights at Freddy’s movie and potentially returning for the sequel. Regarding a reappearance in the Scream series, it’s possible that it could happen again; after all, Skeet Ulrich’s character Billy Loomis made a ghostly comeback in Scream (2022) and Scream 6.

Killer Cakes premieres October 8 exclusively on Prime Video.
