Ore-Ida is expanding its popular Tater Tots range with two fun new shapes: dinosaurs and stars!
Ore-Ida recently launched new Tater Tot shapes for the first time in almost 20 years, announcing the additions on May 6th. These new shapes are now available across the country in both regular 28-ounce bags and larger 5-pound packs, and will be a permanent part of the Ore-Ida product line.
These new products maintain the brand’s signature crispy and fluffy texture, but feature fun, eye-catching designs to appeal to younger customers and families who enjoy trying new things.
Claire Lukaszewski, Senior Brand Manager at Ore-Ida, explained that while Ore-Ida created Tater Tots, the brand is now focused on innovating for the future.
We’re using our 70+ years of experience with potatoes to create Dino and Star Tater Tots – a fun, modern take on a classic that still delivers the great taste everyone loves.

Ore-Ida launches Dino tots to make meals “more fun”
Ore-Ida’s new Dino Tater Tots are shaped like dinosaurs to appeal to both kids and adults who love these prehistoric creatures, making mealtimes more enjoyable for the whole family.
Star Tater Tots are being released in collaboration with America 250, a national event celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. The special edition tots will come in limited-edition packaging designed for the celebration.
Ore-Ida announced the new product as part of its larger “Ore-Ida or Nothing” campaign, aiming to differentiate itself in the frozen potato section with more interesting options.
The company believes there’s a big potential for growth in frozen potatoes because less than 1% of current products are shaped anything other than the usual forms. They see this as a key area for developing new and exciting options.
As a huge Tater Tot fan, I was so excited to hear from Ore-Ida that they’re already working on even more fun shapes! Apparently, we can expect to see them hit stores next year, which is awesome!
