OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has secured a $200 million deal with the U.S. Department of Defense to collaborate on creating advanced Artificial Intelligence technologies for the nation.
On June 16, Monday, the U.S. Department of Defense announced a set of fresh agreements intended for the Air Force, Navy, Army, and additional entities.
I’m thrilled to share that I’m part of a community where the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office has bestowed a $200 million contract upon OpenAI, the innovators behind ChatGPT. This collaboration aims to create cutting-edge AI prototypes, particularly for tackling pressing national security issues in both warfare and commercial sectors. These “frontier AI capabilities” will be instrumental in addressing critical challenges we face as a nation.
The project should be completed by July 2026, as OpenAI elaborated on their strategies more in a blog post they wrote themselves.
