OpenAI CEO says ChatGPT can’t keep up with “biblical” demand of Studio Ghibli trend

According to OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, he kindly requests that enthusiasts tone down their efforts in producing Studio Ghibli-inspired visuals. The popular trend has put a strain on the team, causing them to work excessively hard.

The adventure began towards the end of March as OpenAI unveiled an innovative image-generating tool on their site, causing quite a buzz that rapidly spread across the web.

Images reminiscent of Studio Ghibli‘s unique style have been spreading rapidly on various social media networks such as X, TikTok, and Instagram, igniting a viral trend. Although many have appreciated this trend, the massive influx of requests has put strain on OpenAI’s servers and team.

Initially, Sam Altam welcomed the popularity of the trend with a touch of humor, changing his profile picture on X to an illustration in the style of Studio Ghibli depicting himself. But the joy soon transformed into a complicated organizational issue for the business.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman tells fans to “chill”

can yall please chill on generating images this is insane our team needs sleep

Following Altman’s disclosure about the unanticipated surge in demand causing OpenAI’s GPUs to max out, he proposed a temporary measure to restrict usage. This is being done so that the team can focus on enhancing efficiency during this period.

He posted, “Watching folks enjoy the photos in ChatGPT is a blast! However, our computer processors are overheating. To give them a chance to cool down, we’ll momentarily impose usage limits until we improve efficiency. Fingers crossed, it won’t take too long.

In spite of Altman’s appeal, his social media replies kept getting filled with memes and additional Studio Ghibli-inspired content, intended as playful teasing towards the overloaded CEO by fans.
