Open world action RPG Of Ash and Steel gets a new overview trailer

Developers Fire & Frost Studios, in collaboration with Publisher Tinybuild, have unveiled a fresh trailer showcasing the key features of their upcoming game titled “Of Ash and Steel“. Slated for launch towards the end of this year, the “low fantasy” open-world action RPG promises an engaging experience.

The announcement for a playtest registration has been made, and those who are keen to participate can express their interest by noting it on the game’s Steam webpage.

Originally unveiled in November, “Of Ash and Steel” was introduced as a game that draws inspiration from role-playing games of the early 2000s, specifically naming the original “Gothic” and “The Witcher” series as significant influences.

Yet amidst the chaos, find moments of tranquility while fishing or crafting new gear. This breathtaking yet perilous land promises thrilling adventures for those daring enough to explore its depths.

Welcome to Grayshaft

Grayshaft is among the seven islands that make up a kingdom. This particular island boasts undeniable beauty: tranquil meadows merge with expansive farmlands, while tiny streams snake their way through serene hills and quaint settlements. However, as you gaze towards the horizon, dense, antique forests quickly become dominant, concealing crumbling remnants of the past and forgotten artifacts.

The island is sometimes characterized as a capricious being, prone to sudden changes in mood. Its weather can shift swiftly from calm to turbulent, with a light zephyr transforming into a fierce tempest in an instant. Despite some regions bursting with vibrant colors and vitality, other areas remain perpetually frozen throughout the year. The dormant volcano at its center fails to bring any heat to the lands it surveys.

Dangers in Every Step

Adventuring through this world isn’t just a walk in the park; even familiar trails can hide unexpected dangers. Whether I’m treading on well-worn paths or venturing into hidden corners, I’ll encounter bloodthirsty monsters, merciless looters, and terrifying creatures that would make your hair stand on end! One misstep, and I might be facing my final challenge – the creepy crawlies alone are enough to give you nightmares!

For those who persevere, there’s a rich prize for the inquisitive and bold: concealed caves, hoarded riches, and forgotten mysteries lie in wait for those daring enough to venture where others feared to tread. Keep an eye behind you when you delve, or risk joining the ranks of the vanished on this island.

Factions and Power Struggles

On Grayshaft island, it’s not just wild animals, outlaws, and mythical creatures that pose a threat; various factions are also in constant struggle for power. The Order of the Seven maintains its dominance through their strict code and discipline, whereas the Free Hunters follow their personal sense of justice without any allegiance to a higher authority. There are numerous other groups operating covertly or on society’s outskirts, making it difficult to determine who can be trusted at first sight. A good rule of thumb is to assume everyone has ulterior motives, and you’ll only be pleasantly surprised when that’s not the case.
