Netflix has revealed that Season 3 of One Piece will be released soon, giving fans a first look at the adaptation of a beloved story arc from the original manga and anime. This announcement follows the success of Season 2, which is currently the most popular show on Netflix worldwide.
What do we know about One Piece Season 3?
Season 3 of One Piece will be called One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta. It will cover the Straw Hat crew’s adventure to Princess Vivi’s kingdom, where they’ll work to protect Alabasta and its citizens from the villainous Crocodile. The premiere is expected sometime in 2027.
The next season of the series will see Monkey D. Luffy and his crew heading to the desert kingdom of Alabasta, the home of Princess Vivi, where they’ll face a coming war. A rebellion is brewing, secretly orchestrated by the dangerous Sir Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, and his criminal organization, Baroque Works, who plan to take over the kingdom. This season will focus on the strong connections between the Straw Hats as they struggle with difficult decisions while trying to save Vivi’s kingdom from collapsing into chaos. Viewers can expect powerful new villains and exciting new locations, with the highest stakes yet.
The new live-action series One Piece is based on the popular manga by Eiichiro Oda. Steven Maeda and Matt Owens, known for their work on The X-Files and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. respectively, are the writers and executive producers, with Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes serving as showrunners. The cast includes Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday/Nico Robin, Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday/Princess Vivi, Joe Manganiello as Crocodile/Mr. 0, and others. The series is a production of Shueisha and Tomorrow Studios.
Tracz and Stokes, the creators of the show, shared that the Alabasta saga is a fan favorite and a personal highlight for them, making it a privilege to adapt. They described season 3 as an expansion of their previous work, promising a large-scale and emotionally resonant war story filled with spectacle and unexpected moments. They’re excited for viewers to experience the high-stakes adventure in Alabasta, hinting at some memorable and unusual elements – including ‘big ducks!’
