One Piece: Eiichiro Oda confirms Shanks is the most special pirate

As a long-time follower of One Piece and a self-proclaimed Shanks enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a sense of awe every time I read about this enigmatic character. The recent revelation about his Divine Departure technique only serves to deepen my admiration for him.

Not only is Shanks a pivotal figure in the series One Piece, but his abilities set him apart from all others. In fact, creator Eiichiro Oda has revealed that Shanks is an exceptionally unique pirate.

Among the enigmatic figures in One Piece, Red-Hair Shanks stands out as one of the most elusive due to the limited insights we’ve received about his ultimate intentions. However, throughout the storyline, Shanks has undeniably demonstrated an impressive showcase of power, hinting that his true might is yet to be fully unveiled.

Shanks defeats Eustass Kidd using a move called Divine Departure, which is similar to Roger’s attack. The manga doesn’t explain much about how Shanks can use the same attack as the Pirate King. Fortunately, creator Eiichiro Oda answered several key questions in a Weekly Shonen Jump Q&A session, and he provided some insight into this technique.

Oda said, “He recalled it due to his long admiration for Roger. Not every member of the Roger Pirates could replicate this, which makes Shanks’ skill truly remarkable.

“People seem really upset about these responses, but I can’t help but feel charmed because Shanks idolizes Roger so much that he put in all that effort to master his move – it strikes me as adorably sweet.
