Luffy and his friends are on the verge of driving the Holy Knights out of the giants’ territory. With Luffy’s victory over Sommers and Sanji’s group defeating Killingham, only one Holy Knight remains: Gunko, who is now controlled by Imu.
In chapter 1177, Usopp and Brook are soundly defeated by Gunko. Luckily, Luffy and Loki arrive just in time, leading to the first-ever meeting between Luffy and Imu. Imu then proposes that Luffy and his crew join forces, threatening death if they refuse, and warns that a battle between them would tear the world apart.
