One Piece Chapter 1131 gets sudden delay – here’s the new release date

As a die-hard One Piece fan since its debut in ’97, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and concern over this sudden six-week hiatus. I’ve grown accustomed to Eiichiro Oda’s regular breaks, which he takes to maintain the quality without burning out, so this unexpected delay has definitely caught me off guard.

This week, unfortunately, there won’t be a fresh One Piece chapter, because an unexpected break has been declared to last several weeks instead.

Since its debut in 1997, One Piece has maintained a remarkable level of consistency, with creator Eiichiro Oda occasionally stepping away for brief periods during the series’ entire run. More recently, he has adopted a pattern of scheduling periodic breaks to ensure that he can continue producing chapters without becoming overwhelmed.

Typically, we have advance notice about when these breaks occur; however, an unexpected postponement has been announced. As a result, One Piece Chapter 1131 will now be released on December 1, 2024, which is three weeks later than the initial publication date. This delay results in a total gap of six weeks since Chapter 1130.

The following chapter is set for official release on the first of December, meaning there will be a brief hiatus until then. I really hope Oda is in good health.

On Manga Plus, it’s been verified that there’s a shift in the release schedule, but no explanation has been provided as of now. To maintain quality and avoid exhaustion, Eiichiro intentionally spaces out releases every two to three weeks. Therefore, this unexpected break has sparked worries about his health and wellness.

One fan on X/Twitter stated, “Oda needs to look after himself,” to which another replied, “Oh no, I really hope Oda is secure and in good health.

It’s uncommon for a six-week break not to have an official reason, but there could be some justifiable factors at play. For example, the One Piece anime has been put on hold until 2025, so Eiichiro Oda doesn’t need to prepare content for Toei Animation to animate immediately.

Currently, a reimagined version of the Fish-Man Island Arc is being broadcasted weekly, serving as an interim. Meanwhile, production for the live-action adaptation of One Piece Season 2 is underway, with Eiichiro returning to his role as executive producer. He temporarily stepped back from drawing the manga to contribute to this project, and it’s likely he’s still offering support to Netflix.

Until we know more though, this is speculation, and still worrying for readers who’re up to date. Right now, One Piece is just getting stuck into the Elbaph Arc, where Luffy’s met Prince Loki after his Observation Haki was triggered.
