One Of Sinners’ Biggest Moments Was Added Last Minute To The Script

In an interview, the actress Wunmi Mosaku, known for her role as Sinners’ protagonist Annie, shared that a particularly memorable scene in the movie wasn’t initially part of the script but was added just before filming began.

According to Mosaku’s interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she mentioned that the musical performance by Sammie at Club Juke, featuring various periods of music, wasn’t part of the script she initially reviewed. You can find her complete statement below.

Certainly not, but there was a shift in the script from my audition to the rehearsal with the cast. The version I received two days before the rehearsal included past and future ancestors in the scene, which sent shivers down my spine. That additional detail left me astounded, thinking “Wow, this man is a genius.” Ryan’s brilliance lies in his ability to take an already exceptional script and raise it to another level. Consequently, during the rehearsal, the power of it all was overwhelming, and we were all moved to tears, particularly when Miles sang for the first time.

From the moment we learned that Ryan Coogler was working on an original project, there wasn’t a hint of doubt in anyone’s mind. His ability to preserve culture, both in film and now music, is so profound that skepticism never entered my thoughts during this collaboration. I can assure you that every actor and crew member felt the same way.
