JunJia, a highly anticipated professional League of Legends jungler, has been on the radar for years. He even trained alongside EDG’s world championship-winning team before achieving his own victories in the LCP (previously known as PCS). Surprisingly, he almost didn’t pursue a professional career, despite impressive performances in amateur tournaments early on.
In a state of indecision between pursuing a professional career or continuing with traditional education, he chose to visit a nearby Taoist temple to seek guidance from the revered deity, Xuanwu, who holds a prominent position within Taoism, for a divination.
The technique used was an ancient form of fortune-telling called Poe divination, where a reader would drop two small objects such as wooden pieces or coins onto the ground to find answers to questions. It’s somewhat similar to flipping a coin, but with added complexity.
Regardless of whether you think it was divine intervention or mere luck, the end result remains consistent: JunJia has become one of the top professionals globally.
JunJia decided to go pro because of a divine blessing
Since turning professional at age 16, JunJia has been in the game for approximately seven years. Notably, when he first began, the League of Legends scene in Taiwan was not as developed or recognized as it is now.
If you aspired to avoid staying in a limited area and aimed for greater opportunities, it would be necessary to excel to the point of becoming a starter for a Chinese team, a feat that was challenging for many players. However, despite his long association with EDG, he was frequently assigned to their development league squad instead of the main roster, or he served as a substitute on the team.
Since joining teams within the now-recognized League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK), he started to excel. On his current teams, PSG Talon and CBTC Flying Oyster, he has been the standout MVP. He’s been awarded MVP in 3 consecutive Grand Finals and consistently makes plays from the jungle.
During an interview with Home Run Taiwan, conducted by a fan named Vivian, he discussed not just the topic of divination, but also shared his present challenges as a sportsman.
As a gamer, I remember the moment when my family was uncertain about my chosen career path. Grandma took it upon herself to visit a local temple and seek guidance from Xuanwu, a revered Taoist deity. To everyone’s surprise, he gave his blessing for me to pursue this career – and so, with that divine approval, I went all in.

Prior to MSI 2025, this interview took place, with the interviewee expressing a sense of unease about his gameplay, even though his domestic performances were impressive.
JunJia expressed concern that he might not have many more years left as a professional player. He wants to give his best without any regrets, but he’s been contemplating ways to regain the form he had a few years back.
Currently, Flying Oyster is just a single game away from defeating Team T1 at MSI. They eliminated MAD Lions’ team KOI from the competition rather decisively.
Despite harboring some uncertainties about his potential for further advancement seven years into his career, it’s evident he has much more to offer. The MSI 2025 tournament represents a historic moment as a minor region team outperformed a major region in a best-of-5 series, and Flying Oyster is among the most outstanding teams to emerge from that region.
