The developers of Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) have jumped on the Moo Deng trend by posting a related message, causing one particular in-game pet (minion) to increase in price.
Moo Deng’s playful behavior on the internet captured everyone’s attention, with videos featuring her antics becoming popular. Since that time, this viral pygmy hippo from the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand has won many hearts, inspiring a range of memes, fan art, and even a Pokemon-style moveset.
Following this, the developers of Final Fantasy XIV also hopped aboard the Moo Deng excitement wave. With the caption “Unperturbed. Moisturized. Content. On My Turf. Concentrated. Thriving,” they posted a video of a hippo minion stretching and being sprayed with water in the game, on platform X.
Indeed, it was quite apparent from the comments who the authors were addressing, even before I had to guess.

As an avid fan, I must say that Final Fantasy XIV truly shines when it comes to the diverse array of minions at our disposal. While we may not have Moo Deng in the game, the hippo minion offers a close approximation of that charm in the world of Eorzea.

Previously, it was possible for users on platform X to obtain the miniature hippo character for approximately 17,400 Gil. However, due to recent changes, the price of this minion has increased significantly on some servers, now costing a hefty 300,000 Gil.

Another method involves entering Vanaspati, a level 85 dungeon from Endwalker. However, it’s important to note that obtaining the minion isn’t always certain because the loot is randomly distributed.
You might want to conquer this dungeon with top-tier characters, and possibly receive the Hippo Calf minion as your next loot. However, the time it takes will depend greatly on your fortune.
