Okay, so this is wild! Apparently, Canadian figure skater Madeline Schizas was competing at the Olympics – the Milano Cortina 2026 games – and still managed to politely email her professor asking for a little extra time on an assignment. It’s gone totally viral, which is honestly amazing. Like, talk about multitasking and being super classy!
An Instagram post reveals an email from the athlete to her sociology professor. In the email, she explains she was competing in the Olympics and thought a paper was due later in the week.
She explained that she had been competing in the Olympics the day before and mistakenly believed the deadline for something was Sunday, when it was actually Friday.
She requested a short extension and provided a link to a Team Canada press release as proof of her involvement.

Schizas shared a Story with the caption, “LOLLLL I love being a student athlete,” playfully acknowledging the challenge of juggling schoolwork and Olympic-level training.
The 22-year-old skater is competing for Canada in both the Team Event and the women’s singles competition at the 2026 Games. She recently performed in the Team Event’s women’s short program on February 6th, finishing sixth with a score of 64.97.
I was so hyped to see her performance really pull through for Canada! It got us into fifth place after the first day, which was exactly what we needed to make it to the next round of the Team Event. It was a close call, but we made the cut!
The Canadian women’s team will compete in the free skate portion of the Team Event on February 8th. Additionally, Madeline Schizas will represent Canada in the individual women’s competition, starting with the short program on February 17th and finishing with the free skate on February 19th.
Milano Cortina will be Schizas’ second Olympic Games, after she first competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
