The upcoming changes for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered have been disclosed. Among them are the addition of a novel challenge level for players to explore and enhancements made to ensure smoother gameplay.
In update 1.2 of Oblivion Remastered, a new difficulty level called Journeyman will be introduced. This level provides a good balance between the existing options, serving as a smooth transition for players between the Adept and Expert difficulties.
In the upcoming update, there are more challenges on the horizon, not just the one you’re thinking of. Moreover, it will offer customizable settings for both player and enemy combat damage, enabling users to tailor their gaming experience even more precisely.
At present, Update 1.2 can be obtained through Steam’s Beta program (which users can choose to participate in). However, it will eventually become accessible to everyone at a later point. Unfortunately, no precise date was provided for when the update will reach other platforms. To download the beta version via Steam, follow these instructions below.
- Open your Steam Library and navigate to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
- Right click on “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered” and select “Properties”
- In the new properties pop-up window, select “Betas”
- In the beta drop down to opt into, select “\[beta]”
- Wait for app to download new build and launch
After its release, Oblivion Remastered’s level-scaling and overall difficulty has sparked much debate among players. The initial levels like Novice and Apprentice are often perceived as too simple, and even the standard difficulty of Adept can feel easy in many situations. However, transitioning to Expert mode can lead to combat becoming a tedious task, as enemies can withstand multiple attacks and deal excessive damage to players. Finding a balance between these two extremes, perhaps a more challenging yet fair difficulty level, would be appreciated by many players.
In this upcoming game update, I’m excited about not just the tougher difficulty settings, but also some sweet performance optimizations! The patch notes hint that they’re smoothing out those annoying hitches in the open world, enhancing character animations, improving weather effects, refining water rendering, and fine-tuning lighting and shadows within various lairs. It sounds like a fantastic gaming experience is on its way!
The patch includes numerous bug fixes, addressing problems such as absent textures on Daedric statues and irregular vampire sleep animations. For more details, check out the complete patch notes provided below.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the recent update for Oblivion Remastered in June. Primarily focusing on bug fixes and technical improvements, this game has been a standout, despite some lingering technical issues. Interestingly, while there’s no official mod support yet, that hasn’t deterred players who have been busy crafting their own Oblivion Remastered mods!
In the US market of 2025, this remastered gem has proven its worth, ranking among the top-selling games so far. The magic of Tamriel is alive and well in this revamped version, drawing fans like me back to the enchanting world of Oblivion!
