Oblivion Remastered Makes The Original’s Most Infamous Dialogue Blooper Even Better

In a charming twist, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is brimming with whimsical characters and catchy dialogues, and now, one of the game’s most notorious blunders has been given an upgrade in the recently launched Oblivion Remastered.

In Oblivion Remastered, there are numerous fresh and distinct changes, including stunning visual upgrades thanks to Unreal Engine 5, revamped user interface components, and additional enhancements. Some Non-Player Characters (NPCs) have even received new voiceovers as a way to address the repetitive use of a limited number of voices in the original version.

Nevertheless, the iconic voice line from the original game, delivered by the Speechcraft instructor Tandilwe, remarkably remains unchanged. Tandilwe addresses the players with:

On the same fateful night, reports indicate that there were break-ins at the Arcane University, the Imperial Legion base, and a temple. Let me repeat that for clarity.

Or more casually:

It seems some sneaky folks managed to pull off three heists in one go – the Arcane University, the Imperial Legion compound, and a temple were all targeted on the same night. I better double-check this information.

Afterward, she says the identical phrase but places stress on various words for a slightly altered tone. It seems the voice actor of Tandilwe felt the need to re-record the line, and it certainly was appropriate. However, both versions were strangely left in the original Oblivion, leading to amusing results. Now, fortunately, it’s included once more in Oblivion Remastered, despite the fact that Tandilwe herself appears quite transformed.

The situation is even more enjoyable in Oblivion Remastered because not only is the original blooper kept intact, but it’s significantly improved with the game’s advanced lip-syncing technology. In contrast to the original version where Tandilwe’s mouth stops moving after her first line, in Oblivion Remastered, the game continues to synchronize the entire line with her movements.

Bethesda Game Studios seems to have maintained the essence of the original Oblivion in various aspects, one example being the luxury edition upgrade of the game, which offers unique horse armor – a nod to the controversial horse armor DLC from the original version. One of the original developers of Oblivion stated that labeling Oblivion Remastered as just a remaster is not fully accurate. Simultaneously, Todd Howard has confirmed they are still developing The Elder Scrolls VI alongside the release of Oblivion Remastered.
