If you’re eager to quickly improve your abilities in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, here’s a tip! Although the remastered version retains much of the original game’s framework, there have been some adjustments to skills and leveling that align it more closely with Skyrim and Starfield.
In simpler terms, even though the overall gameplay might not have changed much, you’ll still be able to perform acrobatic feats by leveling up your skills in Oblivion Remastered. This will grant you extraordinary abilities such as jumping over water surfaces or immobilizing enemies with arrows. Achieving the maximum skill level may require a bit of time (or using some shortcuts, also known as exploits).
How to level up skills in Oblivion
Improving skills involves repeating actions related to them, hence the saying goes: Practice turns into perfection. For example, wielding a sword enhances your Blade skill, sprinting boosts your Athletics, and so forth.
In Oblivion Remastered, your skills are categorized into five distinct levels: Novice, Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, and Master. As you progressively improve your skills and move up these ranks, fresh capabilities or stat enhancements will become accessible to you. The game will alert you when you reach a significant achievement with a congratulatory pop-up, and you can explore all the benefits in the built-in Help section of the game.
Oblivion combat Skills
Skills for combat encompass abilities that inflict damage on opponents or shield you from incoming assaults. Frequent utilization of specific weapon types will expedite the progression of these skills.
The ideal spot for honing these abilities is the Arena within the Imperial City, as it constantly thrusts you into consecutive fights. Consider your adversaries as experience-rich piñatas! Indeed, this method seems authentic, at least. If you’re looking for a quicker means to advance, there are opportunities to utilize some experience boosts (or exploits).
Weapon skills exploit
At Peryite’s Shrine to the east of Bravil, you have an opportunity to advance your skills in Blade, Blunt, and Hand-to-Hand combat. The figures there, dressed in robes, are invulnerable to harm, making them excellent practice targets. Simply choose a target and begin attacking. Although they won’t sustain any damage, they will still award the standard experience points for each skill level you improve.
Block, heavy armor, and armorer skills exploit
Here’s another way to phrase that advice in a more casual and easy-to-understand manner:
“Want to boost Block, Armorer, and Heavy Armor skills? Check out Anvil, make your way to Arvena Thelas’ house basement. She’s got some pesky rats causing her trouble, but they could help you level up! Set the difficulty to Master, then give each rat a tap to get them going. After that, lower the difficulty to Novice and find a spot where all the rats can swarm you at once. Just block their attacks and voila, you’re leveling up!
By preventing rat assaults, your progress accelerates rapidly, and sporting Hefty Armor during these encounters boosts your proficiency even more. Don’t forget to pack some Tool Kits for Armorer experience on the side.
Oblivion magic skills
As a seasoned gamer, I can tell you that mastering magical abilities is essentially about unleashing spells and concocting potions. The only exception being Alchemy, the rest of these skills function similar to combat techniques. All you need to do is to hurl a spell at an adversary, and voila! You’ll be rewarded with some well-deserved XP.
Magic skills exploit
It turns out that the method for boosting combat abilities also applies to enhancing magical skills. You might recall those friendly souls at Peryite’s Shrine who don’t seem to mind a good punch? Well, they don’t seem to mind getting set on fire, either. All you need to do is cast spells on them, and watch the experience points pile up!
In Oblivion Remastered, this trick applies across all magical disciplines as well. Casting stronger spells will yield a greater amount of experience points. If you’re in search of fresh magic, consider joining the Mages Guild for a wider range of spells at your disposal.
Alchemy leveling exploit
You can swiftly advance your skills in Alchemy by spending some of your gold, if you wish. Simply navigate towards merchants who stock ingredients, such as The Main Ingredient located within the Imperial City Market District, and purchase all the supplies available to you.
Afterward, mix pairs of those ingredients together using a mortar and pestle to create some potions and poisons. You’ll sell these back to the shopkeeper, and their value will depend on your Alchemy skill level rather than the number of ingredients you use. So, remember to always combine just two ingredients at a time for maximum returns.
Oblivion stealth skills
In Oblivion Remastered, stealth abilities encompass more than just moving unnoticed. Speech skills and the use of bows also belong in this category. After all, who doesn’t resort to the stealthy archer build at some point?
Here’s a simpler way to explain:
Most of these skills are easy to improve. To boost the Light Armor skill, simply wear it and take hits. This trick also works for Heavy Armor as mentioned earlier. Speechcraft can be rapidly enhanced by repeatedly playing the persuasion mini-game with every character you encounter, and you can increase Mercantile by selling any random items you find during your journey.
Marksman skill exploit
To quickly improve your Marksman skill, consider returning to Peryite’s Shrine again. Feel free to practice by shooting arrows at them, but don’t forget to stock up on ammo first!
Sneak skill exploit
In the remastered version of Oblivion, the old Sneak exploit from its initial release remains functional. Interestingly, there’s a spot where you can elevate your Sneak skill to maximum (100) without having to be present, known as AFK leveling. To do this, head to the Imperial City Arena and navigate to the Bloodworks, where everyone is training. Once there, locate a secluded corner, get down on all fours, and move into the wall. Although it may seem like you’re stationary, the game still recognizes it as sneaking, thereby awarding you experience points.
Acrobatics skill exploit
Improving acrobatics skills can be achieved rapidly by performing bunny hops in various locations, but there’s a system behind the chaos that could elevate your Acrobatics level by dozens in just a few minutes. To do this, you simply require a well. One is situated in Hackdirt town, south of Chorrol. Position your character so their head is beneath the well corner, then repeatedly press the jump button to accumulate Acrobatics experience points quickly.
Security skill exploit
In Oblivion Remastered, the Security leveling exploit stands out as the most unusual one due to its rapid leveling mechanism. To reach level 100 in less than five minutes, simply navigate to the Imperial City Market District at night and attempt to pick a locked shop door.
In simpler terms, some of the tumblers on these locks are already in place (they appear darker than the rest), so simply position your lockpick beneath those and rapidly press the “set tumbler” button. You won’t notice the XP meter until you exit the lockpicking menu, but you’ll hear the level up sound.
