15 years have passed since The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion was originally released, making it old enough to experience a remastered version – but not everyone gets to enjoy it yet. Unfortunately, this updated release still faces some of the traditional performance issues that plagued the original game, such as crashes and stuttering, which is ironically similar to the original’s glitches. This amusing discrepancy brings back memories of the original game for many players.
Oblivion Remastered performance issues and stuttering takes us back in time
Upon its launch, Oblivion was formidable, overpowering even the strongest machines. However, things took an unexpected turn when we stepped out of our subterranean hideout. Many, including myself and my peers, were taken aback by the frame rate drops that ensued. It appears that history may be repeating itself, with increasing reports of performance problems in the Remastered version, following the transition from the indoor tutorial section to the vast open world. This was a challenge we encountered 19 years ago as well.
Regrettably, I’m unable to provide concrete resolutions for that issue. However, if you struggle with stuttering, you might find relief in tried-and-true methods such as:
- Turning off background software and overlays.
- Lowering graphics and using upscaling.
- Capping FPS.
- Running the game as administrator.
- Updating drivers.
- Verifying files.
Each option might assist you, but they might not as well. If that happens, the game should get fixed soon. I’ve been through similar situations long ago, so my advice is to stay patient.
