As a longtime fan of rock ‘n’ roll and a connoisseur of British wit, I must say that this week’s “Saturday Night Live” was a delightful treat. The Gallagher brothers’ reunion, though only in spirit, brought back memories of the good old days when their music filled my teenage years with energy and rebellion.
Approximately a year prior to the highly awaited Oasis reunion tour, Noel and Liam Gallagher performed together for the first time in a year on “Saturday Night Live”, although not quite under the same roof.
James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman made a return to “Weekend Update,” portraying the long-absent Gallagher brothers. They assured host Colin Jost that they wouldn’t split up prior to their tour scheduled for next year.
Jost was curious if you all might be willing to go on tour a year from now, as it seems everyone is asking about that question,” he inquired of the Gallaghers.
“I’m cool if he’s cool,” Johnson’s Noel responded.
Liam from Sherman retorted, ‘I’m quite stylish, indeed I am, even more than you,'” Jost responded skeptically. “Well then, it seems like we have an agreement,” he said dryly.
2025’s most anticipated concert event, the Oasis reunion tour, is taking shape, boosted by newly announced U.S. tour dates. Tickets are flying off virtual shelves as eager fans rush to secure their spots.
Well, it’s not an absolute ‘no’, but perhaps a possibility,” I replied, which prompted Johnson to serenade with the lyrics of “Wonderwall”: “I said maybe.” Reminiscent of playful sibling banter, Johnson altered the song to “if Liam doesn’t act like a spoiled child” and we both began teasing each other, calling one another a “spoiled brat” and sticking out our tongues.
To Jost’s satisfaction, it turned out that they found common ground on one subject: their preferred cartoon personalities.
Ariana Grande recently took the helm as host for “Saturday Night Live” and is currently gearing up for her role in the upcoming film adaptation of the renowned Broadway musical, “Wicked.” In this production, she plays Galinda Upland alongside Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba Thropp. The star-studded cast also includes Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Peter Dinklage, and others. The first installment is set to premiere on November 22, with “Part Two” following suit next year.
