No Man’s Sky player spent 1,400 hours building a giant city that shouldn’t even exist and takes 5 minutes to load

In the game No Man’s Sky, although you can construct basic outposts with certain restrictions within the system, one particularly creative player managed to construct a massive city that, as per the game’s regulations, technically shouldn’t be possible.

The largest city in No Man’s Sky

Recently on Reddit, a user named ReadyPlayerFamily shared a post about an impressive achievement: he claimed to have invested approximately 1400 hours into constructing the largest city ever built within the game No Man’s Sky. This colossal urban center goes by the name Hell Vegas, and players can pay it a visit while playing in the Permadeath mode.

My Gift to All Adventurers Reaching Galactic Core: HELL VEGAS! Picture a neon metropolis on a fiery planet where storms never end and lava is perpetually active. It’s so intense, you’ll see it glowing from space itself. And here’s the catch, the game struggles to contain its grandeur now.

In the game, restrictions were set in place to avoid complications with constructing extensive bases. However, ReadyPlayerFamily skillfully circumvented all these limitations. What he did was use more than triple the standard number of elements for building bases – around 10,000 elements instead of the usual 3000. He accomplished this by exploiting game glitches, bugs, and modifying the game using additional software tools. The end result is an impressive base on the planet with a staggering count of between 60,000 and 70,000 elements.

Due to its complexity, even top-tier computers find it challenging to handle Hell Vegas, with the entire city taking more than 5 minutes to fully load. Additionally, certain objects become visible only when one gets near them. The creator acknowledges that, even on minimal graphics settings, the hardware strains to smoothly render the city, experiencing notable frame drops, but the game remains playable.

In simpler terms, “No Man’s Sky” has been pushed to its maximum capabilities in the Permadeath mode that I’ve tested across multiple platforms and user accounts. However, it appears that the game can no longer handle more challenges, having reached its limit.

The city boasts a wealth of fascinating sights. You can expect to see exciting landmarks such as the gleaming Hellasphere tower, modeled after The Strat in Las Vegas, an underground pyramid filled with flowing lava streams, bustling nightlife districts, holographic passages, active volcanoes, and a massive farm enclosed within a dome. There are numerous other intriguing features, but they remain undiscovered as the city’s creators encourage players to uncover them on their own adventure.
