‘No Good Deed’ Is the Most Underrated Netflix Original Series

I’ve been covering pop culture as a journalist for over ten years, which means I watch a lot of television. With Netflix releasing so many great original shows, I’ve made it a point to keep up with them. This year, I’ve particularly enjoyed the horror series Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen and the fourth season of Bridgerton. But one show from two years ago really stands out and I think deserves more attention.

Netflix has a lot of hidden gems that don’t get enough attention. While shows like Stranger Things and Squid Game were huge hits, there are so many other great series people seem to forget about. I really enjoyed the complex family drama in Bloodline, and the teen comedy Everything Sucks is also worth checking out. One series that really stuck with me, though, is No Good Deed.

Why ‘No Good Deed’ is Netflix’s Best Series That No One Talks About

I just finished watching the first season of “No Good Deed” on Netflix, and it really drew me in! It started on December 12th, 2024, and it’s about Paul and Lydia Morgan, played by Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow, who are trying to sell their house. They’ve been through a lot – years of not really talking, struggles in their marriage, and the heartbreaking loss of their son, Jacob. But it’s not just their story; we also meet all these different couples who are interested in buying their place – Carla and Dennis, Sarah and Leslie, and JD and Margo – and each of them brings something new to the mix. It’s a really character-driven show, and I’m invested in seeing how everything unfolds.

I’ve watched a lot of Netflix originals – I even enjoyed Liz Feldman’s Dead to Me – but her new series, No Good Deed, really grabbed me. It’s not your typical home-renovation comedy. Instead of laughs, it builds suspense like a thriller. Right from the start, you get a creepy feeling about Paul and Lydia, and you know they’re hiding something. Plus, the dynamic between Paul and his brother, Mikey (played by Denis Leary), is seriously complicated and adds another layer of drama when he arrives on the scene.

I appreciate how the story uses Paul and Lydia’s farewell to their house as a way to connect different couples. Each time a couple views the home and imagines their life there, we discover they’re all facing big changes. Carla and Dennis are preparing for a baby, but Carla feels overwhelmed by her family’s expectations. Sarah and Leslie are considering if they want to have children. And JD, a well-known actor married to the vibrant Margo, realizes their marriage is struggling. These couples’ stories cleverly mirror Paul and Lydia’s, who are questioning whether their own marriage can be saved after growing distant.

No Good Deed is a uniquely bleak yet funny show, especially appealing to those who enjoy Dead to Me. It’s hard to compare it directly to anything else, but it blends the surprising twists of You, the well-developed characters of Nobody Wants This, and the dry wit of The Kominsky Method into something special.

‘No Good Deed’ Has a Satisfying Ending

The finale of ‘No Good Deed’ is brilliantly done – it’s both moving and satisfying, especially considering the show only had eight episodes. It feels like you’ve gotten a glimpse into the lives of your neighbors, but in a harmless, curious way. We’ve all been intrigued by the homes we pass, wondering about the people behind the walls and the stories within. The neighbors of Paul and Lydia have always been captivated by their lovely house, and now, through the show, we finally get to see what’s inside.

Although No Good Deed includes a mystery, at its heart it’s a story about how we quickly judge people we don’t know. It shows that everyone faces difficulties, even those who seem to have perfect lives. The series also explores how a family copes with death and grief – or, more accurately, how they avoid dealing with it.

Will There Be a Season 2 of ‘No Good Deed’?

Netflix didn’t renew No Good Deed for a second season, and it doesn’t seem like they will. However, Deadline reported in July 2025 that the show could come back as a new series with a completely different cast and storyline – essentially a new story each season.

Liz Feldman told Entertainment Weekly in December 2024 that she’s open to creating another season, stating she has a strong vision for it and would be thrilled to pursue it.

I’m keeping the details under wraps for now, as we need to discuss them with Netflix first. All I can say is that it would mean building an entirely new set.

I really enjoyed No Good Deed and would love to see it come back for a second season. Like Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, it could work well as an anthology series, exploring themes of family, secrets, love, and starting over – all centered around real estate. I’m picturing a new season with a haunted house, maybe even a ghost! I’m only half-joking about that last part.
