No Franchise Is Safe in the Scary Movie 6 Trailer

I’m so excited! The new Scary Movie is coming, and it looks hilarious! Paramount just released the trailer, which Marlon Wayans hinted at before Scream 7 started. In it, Regina Hall and Anna Faris are back as Brenda and Cindy, and they’re brilliantly spoofing characters from Ma and Halloween. There’s this one scene where Cindy jokes about being a Republican and potentially racist, and Brenda’s quick comeback – “I think all white people are racist anyway! Come here!” – had me cracking up. It’s exactly the kind of over-the-top humor I love from this franchise.

Okay, so the new Scream trailer is packed with references. It’s not just your standard Ghostface action; they’re clearly tipping their hat to a ton of recent horror hits. I spotted nods to M3gan, Longlegs, Get Out, Smile, Terrifier, and even The Substance (they’re calling it “the Stuff” now, apparently!). The setup feels very Sinners – a group of unwelcome guests show up wanting to party – and there’s a really intense chase sequence that reminded me of Weapons, ending with a brutal car accident. But it’s not just movies! There’s a fight scene with… well, let’s just say unconventional weapons, clearly inspired by Everything Everywhere All at Once. And if you’re a fan of Netflix’s Wednesday, you’ll notice one of the victims is named Tuesday – a pretty obvious wink to the show. It’s a lot to take in, and honestly, it feels like they’re throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks.

Anna Faris and Regina Hall are reprising their roles in the latest Scary Movie installment, and they’ll be joined by the Wayans brothers – Marlon, Shawn, Keenen, and Damon. Dave Sheridan and Cheri Oteri, who played Doofy and Gail in the original 2000 film, are also returning after a long hiatus. Marlon Wayans previously told People that the Scary Movie sequels without the Wayans family involvement just didn’t have the same spark. However, he promises this new film will be much more exciting, adding a lot of flavor and spice. You can check out the trailer for the movie, releasing June 12th, below.
